He’s 6’3″, ripped, confident, and already turning heads behind the scenes. After recently completing a Power Slap athlete development camp, Mirza Berhamovic is ready to make his debut in the light heavyweight division — and from what the coaches are saying, he might be a problem for everyone

“I Feel Fucking Great”

After a full week of Power Slap training camp, Berhamovic isn’t just riding high — he’s recalibrated, focused, and more confident than ever.

“I feel fucking great,” Mirza told Slap News. “I see now why they started doing these camps. The information, the coaching, the proof I put out there… it made me that much more confident in all areas of slap striking. It was amazing.”

That camp, led by elite names like The Wolverine, Rob Trujillo, and Anthony Blackburn, was more than just fundamentals. It gave Mirza a clear roadmap.

“I found my stance. I found my shot. I picked the brains of every coach there. I even talked to Mark Smith about the rule set and brace technique. Now, I know exactly how I’m training back home.”

“I Was Already Signed to Fight at Power Slap 12”

In a surprising revelation, Berhamovic shared that he was already signed to fight on Power Slap 12 — as a last-minute backup in the light heavyweight division.

“I applied in early February. Not long after, Erica reached out saying they liked my profile. By February 19, I had signed my contract to be a possible late replacement for March 7 at Fontainebleau.”

While the opponent in question was ultimately cleared to compete, Mirza doesn’t see it as a setback — quite the opposite.

“Going through that camp instead of the fight? That was better for me long-term. Now I’ve had the reps, I’ve learned the real technique, and I know I’m going to be dangerous when the time comes.”

From MMA to Slap: A Whole New Game

With a background in MMA, Mirza had to rewire parts of his technique to align with Power Slap rules — specifically the limited use of lower-body momentum.

“That first day at camp, I kept pivoting like it was MMA,” he said. “But once I learned how to generate power within the rules — just a slight heel lift, clean follow-through — everything changed.”

Now back home, he’s hitting pads daily, locked into a structure, and doubling down on his preparation.

Walk Around Weight? 217 lbs of Problem

Berhamovic came into camp leaner than expected, weighing in at 217 pounds — ideal for light heavyweight.

“I thought I was 225, but I hit 217. I’m happy with that. Now I can add muscle or shred down a little more if needed. Either way, I’m coming in strong.”

At 6’3”, Mirza is expected to be one of the bigger and more physically imposing athletes in the division — a factor he’s keen to leverage.

Keeping It Respectful — For Now

While some newcomers call out the top ten before their first slap, Berhamovic is choosing a more methodical approach.

“No callouts yet. Let me make my debut, knock this next guy out, and then you’ll see the problem I am in this division.”

That said, he did acknowledge one name.

“Luke Simmons — I think he’s ranked No. 4 — made a respectful comment on my last interview. I appreciated that. I’m keeping an eye on him, respectfully. But first, I’m focused on making a statement in my debut.”

What’s Next?

With Power Slap expected to announce new events in the coming months, Berhamovic is ready whenever his name is called.

“I don’t know the exact date of the next show, but I’m hoping it’s soon. I’m training like the call’s coming any day now.”
