Las Vegas native Zoe Dubois is ready to showcase her unique blend of grace and grit when she steps up to the slap table for the first time at Power Slap 13. Set to face off against Destiny McCubbin in the women’s flyweight division, Zoe brings a background as diverse as it is dangerous: 20 years of ballet, professional wrestling, and now, the brutal art of open-hand striking.
“I’m bringing that desert heat with me,” she said. “I’m not here to look pretty—I’m here to slap.”
From Pointe Shoes to Power Slaps
Dubois’ path to Power Slap isn’t typical. With two decades in classical ballet and time spent in the pro wrestling world, she’s used to performing through pain.
“People hear ballerina and think fragile—but I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy. Wrestling hardened me up. Ballet gave me control. Now I’m putting all of that into my slap.”
Her training has been intense and unorthodox: heavy lifting without gloves, building finger and wrist strength, conditioning her core—and yes, developing calluses she wears like a badge of honor.
“My mom says, ‘Zoe, your hands are so rough.’ I tell her, ‘I work for it.’”
Why Power Slap, Why Now?
While recovering from knee surgery at the end of 2024, Dubois found herself binge-watching Power Slap.
“I was surprised how technical it is. People think it’s just swinging, but it’s about precision, timing, torque. I’m a ‘why not?’ kind of girl, and when this opportunity came, I jumped at it.”
Training alongside other wrestlers during Power Slap camp, she quickly found her zone—and found herself scaring a few competitors in the process.
“When I zone in, I’m locked in. I might not look like your typical slapper, but don’t let that fool you.”
Facing Destiny McCubbin at 125 lbs
Her opponent, Destiny McCubbin, brings a vibrant personality and a striking pedigree. Zoe has nothing but respect for her—but she’s not backing down.
“Destiny’s a beautiful woman and a fighter. I’ve seen her on socials and she’s full of energy. I hope we respectfully slap the ‘medas’ out of each other.”
Standing at 5’5″ and cutting from 140+, Zoe’s pushing hard to make the 125 limit. Dieting has never been her strength—“I’m on a seafood diet: I see it, I eat it”—but with two weeks left, she’s locked in on making weight safely.
Message to Destiny
“Hey girl, how you doing? I hope I’m just as worthy of an opponent as you are to me. Let’s go out there and show them what the flyweight division can do.”
