From riding horses professionally in Pahrump, Nevada, to throwing down at the UFC Apex, Taylar Minton might have one of the most unexpected paths into Power Slap. But after two days of drills, testing, and face-to-face mentorship from champions, she’s walking away with one thing on her mind:

“I’m so ready to slap somebody.”

A Horse Girl No More

Growing up just outside of Las Vegas, Minton spent most of her life training horses, far from the world of combat sports. But since stepping into Syndicate MMA in September, she’s quickly proven she can transition from reins to ring with style.

“I never thought I’d be doing this,” she laughed. “But after watching Power Slap and seeing what Mikey [Michelle Brown] was doing, I wanted to try it for myself. Now, I’m in love with it.”

Training with the Best

At the Power Slap Combine, Taylar trained under the watchful eyes of Wolverine, Anthony Blackburn, and Robert Trujillo—three of the most dominant names in slap fighting today.

“They were amazing. There’s so much more to this than people realize. Positioning, feet placement, where your hand lands—it’s not just slapping someone in the face.”

She also got to train alongside fellow Las Vegas striker Destiny McCubbin and veterans like Jackie Thomas and Mikey Michelle Brown, creating instant camaraderie and learning opportunities.

Power, Precision, and Personality

Taylar clocked 19,000 on the Power Cube, a solid number for a first-timer, and posted 232 lbs of neck strength—a sign she can definitely take a shot. But more than anything, her energy and presence shine.

“I just want to have a good time. Competing makes me happy. Power Slap has such a good community.”

She plans to compete at 145 lbs, though hinted at a potential cut to 135 in the future if it makes sense. For now, she’s locked into her goals: keep training, dial in her diet, and be ready when the call comes.

What’s Next?

Taylar doesn’t have a Power Slap contract yet, but she’s ready if and when Erica makes the call.

“I’ll be in the gym, following my diet, and training at Syndicate. Just staying ready. I’m all in.”
