Power Slap is no stranger to big personalities—and Ryan Kenny, a professional wrestler from Cobourg, Ontario, is the latest heavyweight looking to bring the heat.
Known in the wrestling world as Shawn Knox, a brute Viking heel with quiet intensity, Kenny now sets his sights on the Power Slap stage. And with no Canadians yet crowned as Power Slap champions, he’s aiming to be the first.
“I’m putting that heavyweight division on notice,” Kenny told Slap News. “Whether it’s heavyweight or light heavyweight—or both—I will do it.”
From Wrestling Ring to Slap Podium
Ryan has four years of experience in pro wrestling, where his character does most of the talking without saying a word—something he compares to legends like The Undertaker.
“I don’t talk much in the ring. Just presence. My tag partner does the talking, and I bring the pain.”
That physicality is no joke. Standing 6’3” and weighing in at a solid 240 lbs, Kenny brings a hybrid background in wrestling, boxing, jiu-jitsu, and bodybuilding. Once weighing 400 lbs, he transformed himself through sheer will, dropping over 160 pounds and winning bodybuilding competitions in the process.
“There are no 400 lb UFC fighters,” he said. “I missed the MMA train, but I’m not missing this opportunity.”
Inspired by Slap Legends—and a Clown
Ironically, it was Sin Bodhi, a pro wrestler and self-proclaimed evil clown, who got Kenny his shot at Power Slap. Sin saw something in him—and he’s not alone.
Kenny draws inspiration from standout strikers like The Crazy Hawaiian and Dumpling, who he credits for helping grow the sport and draw in new fans.
“Those are the guys who got me hooked. The personality, the power, the presence—it’s what this sport needs.”
The Goal: Make Canada Proud
Despite being the only Canadian in the current Power Slap camp, Kenny isn’t deterred.
“No Canadian champions… yet. I’m going to be that guy.”
Whether it’s through sheer Viking intensity, brute power, or years of showmanship honed in the wrestling ring, Ryan Kenny plans to leave his mark on Power Slap.
