The Power Slap Combine is where new dreams are forged and future champions begin their journeys. For Prince Esteban Sabedra, the moment is more than just an opportunity—it’s personal. Carrying the pride of his Muay Thai roots, a deep MMA training background, and the fighting bloodline of Power Slap veteran Azail Rodriguez, Prince is stepping into the arena ready to take over the light heavyweight division.
“Ever since I saw my uncle perform live, I knew this was something I could do,” said Prince. “I’ve been training off and on with him for almost two years now, just waiting for my moment. And now I’m here.”
Born for This
Prince hails from San Diego, California, and walked into the Apex in Las Vegas with the quiet confidence of a striker who’s been preparing for this moment long before he got the email.
“Getting that message from the UFC was the most exciting part. It felt surreal just seeing my name attached to something that big. I knew I had to show up and make a statement.”
With a background in Muay Thai (a perfect 3-0 amateur record), boxing, and jiu-jitsu since middle school, Sabedra brings a well-rounded athletic base to the slap game—along with a mindset built for violence.
Day One: Making Impressions
Working closely with Power Slap elites like Wolverine, Anthony Blackburn, and Robert Trujillo, Prince made his presence known on day one of the combine.
“Wolverine gave me one tip that really stuck—shift more weight into my windup and deliver everything into the strike. That one detail changed the way I approached my slap instantly.”
Prince also got to hit the Power Cube, notching a score in the 30,000s—solid numbers for a new entrant. Coaches praised his overall mechanics, and the confidence he’s built with Azael’s help is clearly paying off.
Legacy Runs Deep
Azael Rodriguez—Prince’s uncle and a well-respected Power Slap competitor—has been mentoring him behind the scenes, helping with stance, accuracy, and mindset.
“He’s been there since day one,” Prince said. “We’ve been working slaps ever since I first saw him compete live, and he’s a big reason why I’m here.”
And now, the next step is clear: earn a contract and put the rest of the 205 division on notice.
Ready for the Call
While he doesn’t yet have an official deal in place, Prince is staying ready.
“I’m not here to play around. If Erica calls, I’m locked in. Training won’t stop.”
Whether it’s refining footwork, hammering down slap mechanics, or studying tape from current contenders, Prince Sabedra is treating this like the beginning of something special.
