Power Slap XI in Saudi Arabia promises to be one of the most exciting events of the year, with Jackie Cataline returning to the table for her highly anticipated rematch against Sheena Bathory. After a whirlwind journey, including a disqualification that left fans hungry for more, Jackie is ready to silence her doubters and prove herself on the world stage.
The Rematch Everyone’s Waiting For
Jackie Cataline is back and ready to pick up where her first fight with Sheena Bathory left off. After knocking Sheena out in their initial match, only to be disqualified, Jackie is eager for a chance to finish what she started.
“I’m pretty excited,” Jackie said. “The first fight went the way I wanted it to, but obviously I was disqualified. This time, I’m looking to rectify that and silence all the haters.”
The rematch was originally scheduled for Abu Dhabi but has now been moved to Saudi Arabia, adding even more excitement for Jackie, who is looking forward to competing on a global stage.
“It’s been a whirlwind, but I’m really excited to get the chance to show the world what I’ve been working on.”
Training and Preparation
Jackie has been focusing on her MMA career, with Power Slap being an important stepping stone in her journey to the UFC.
“Everything I do is MMA training. I add a little bit of slapping training, but my goal has always been to fight in the UFC, not necessarily be a power slapper. Power Slap is just the path I’m taking to get there,” Jackie explained.
Despite her MMA focus, she’s been adjusting her training to make sure she’s ready for this rematch.
“I’ve lost a little bit of power because I’ve been focusing on not moving my feet or fouling. But I’m letting that go for this one. I’m just going to go up there and do what I need to do.”
Jackie’s training includes strength work and practicing slapping a dummy, though she remains focused on her MMA discipline as her primary sport.
Sheena Bathory: The Mental Challenge
Jackie is aware of the mental game that comes with this rematch. Sheena has not competed since their first encounter, but Jackie knows that Sheena will come in determined to prove herself.
“I don’t know what Sheena’s been doing or how she’s been training, but I know she’s still active in MMA, so she’s still working out,” Jackie said. “She’ll definitely have nerves—she doesn’t want the same thing to happen again, even though she got the win.”
Jackie believes Sheena will have to overcome her mental obstacles before even getting to the physical match.
“I think it’s going to be more about getting past the mental side of things for her than the actual physical match.”
The Coin Toss and Predictions
Jackie is confident that she’ll be able to take Sheena’s slap and knock her out once again.
“I see her winning the coin toss this time around, but I’m going to eat her slap and then knock her out. Even if I get disqualified again, it’s happening,” Jackie said with determination.
However, Jackie has a few thoughts on the coin toss process itself.
“I don’t like the way they do the coin toss behind closed doors. It feels like they can just pick whoever they want, and we don’t get to see it. It makes it feel less fair.”
Despite this, she is confident about the outcome.
“I think Sheena got the toss last time because I was new and they brought me in to lose. But this time, I’m going to prove I belong here.”
Growing the Sport
Jackie is also passionate about the future of women in Power Slap. While she’s excited about the increasing number of female competitors, she feels there’s still a long way to go.
“It’s exciting to see more women involved, but I think the sport is still lagging behind in terms of women’s participation,” she said. “It’s hard to get women to compete because, let’s face it, it takes a lot of guts to stand up there and take a slap.”
For Jackie, increasing the payout could help bring more women into the sport.
“I think if they paid us more, we’d get more women willing to step up. But it takes a special kind of woman to do this, and not everyone’s willing to put themselves out there.”
A Message for Sheena
When asked what message she has for Sheena, Jackie didn’t hold back.
“Get ready to go to sleep again,” she said with a grin.
