After another dominant knockout victory, Darren Godfrey has made it clear—he’s coming for the Power Slap middleweight title.

At Power Slap XI in Saudi Arabia, Godfrey put Merlis Muusikus to sleep, extending his streak of highlight-reel finishes. But despite another brutal KO, Godfrey isn’t satisfied. He wants gold around his waist, and he’s not shy about demanding his shot.

“I Smell the Belt” – Godfrey Eyes the Title

After dispatching Muusikus, Godfrey wasted no time setting his sights on the division’s top contenders.

“My confidence is building more and more with every fight. I know what I’m capable of now. I can smell the belt. I know I’m getting closer.”

The middleweight division is seeing major shifts, with Azalea Rodriguez and Wesley Drain vacating their spots and AJ Hintz’s status uncertain. That means Godfrey could be looking at a top-three contender ranking—putting him one step away from a title shot.

While some fans are calling for a rematch with the Chief, Godfrey made it clear that his priority is the belt.

“If the Chief fight is there, I’ll take it, but my goal is the title. Let him keep climbing the ranks, and then he can fight me for it.”

What’s Next for Darren Godfrey?

With a potential top-three ranking, Godfrey is now in line to fight elite-level middleweights. Could John Davis be next? Or will Power Slap fast-track him straight to a title fight?

Either way, Godfrey is ready.

“Everyone they put in front of me, I’m clearing out. They need to put some respect on my name and give me a title shot. I’m ready to go.”

Given his knockout power, confidence, and growing momentum, it’s hard to argue that he doesn’t deserve it.

The Power of the Red Corner

Godfrey wasn’t the only one delivering vicious knockouts at Power Slap XI.

“What was in the water in the red corner? Knockout after knockout after knockout!”

While each fighter’s preparation played a role, Godfrey also credited the chilled-out vibe of Saudi Arabia, saying it helped fighters feel focused and prepared.

“Saudi Arabia was a lot more relaxed than Abu Dhabi. The whole experience had the perfect atmosphere for an event like this. Everyone in the changing room was locked in, and we all went out and performed.”

Whatever the red corner’s secret was, it worked.

The Knockout That Shook Godfrey—But Only for a Second

Despite his dominance, Godfrey admitted that Muusikus packed a serious punch.

“I was surprised how hard he hit, to be fair. I did get a little stung from that shot. First time I’ve actually been shook from a slap since I started.”

However, once he felt that power, Godfrey knew he had to end it fast.

“I knew I had to clean him out on that shot. I wouldn’t like to take too many more of those.”

And that’s exactly what he did.

The Saudi Arabian Crowd Brought the Energy

This was Godfrey’s first time competing in front of a large live crowd, and he fed off the energy.

“The crowd was wild, man. A lot of youngsters in the tunnels, running through, screaming. It was electric.”

With 5,000+ fans in attendance, Power Slap’s expansion into Saudi Arabia proved to be a massive success, and Godfrey fully embraced the moment.

“Big up, Saudi Arabia! We’ve had a great time. The atmosphere was fantastic!”
