A Battle Between Bodyguards

Following his thrilling win at Power Slap 15, Nate Burnard couldn’t help but smile when asked what was next: “I’m going to Disney World — just kidding,” he laughed, before explaining his plans to celebrate quietly with his parents.

For Burnard, this fight was more than just another matchup — it was personal. “This was do or die,” he said. “Everyone said I’m a gatekeeper, so I showed tonight that I am. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.”

The bout, dubbed bodyguard vs. bodyguard, was one he approached with intensity and heart. “I really needed this one,” Burnard admitted. “Aaron’s a hell of an opponent. Truly, shoutout to him.”

Surviving Sudden Death

After three hard-fought rounds, the match was declared a draw, forcing a sudden-death round to determine the winner. For Burnard, it was the ultimate test.

“I was turning up the energy every single time,” he recalled. “As soon as we got into sudden death, I was good. I felt fine. I knew if I put him on his ass and he got up, I was going to eat a shot. I just knew it.”

That composure and awareness helped him secure the victory. Despite being surprised by Aaron’s power in the opening round — and noting that Aaron “flinched, like he’s been known to do” — Burnard stayed mentally sharp and refused to fold under pressure.

Focused, Grounded, and Grateful

By the time the fourth round came, Burnard was confident he had the edge. “I felt good. I was locked in. I knew what I had to do,” he said, reflecting on his calm and collected mindset.

Now, as a respected veteran in Power Slap, Nate remains uncertain about what comes next. “If they call me, they call me. If they don’t, I don’t know yet,” he said. “I’m just going to put that in God’s hands and see what happens.”

Life Outside the Slap Arena

When he’s not training or competing, Burnard works security for Flow Security Dispensary, while continuing to consider future opportunities in law enforcement. He’s keeping things simple, grounded, and grateful.

And when asked if the Buffalo Bills are finally going to the Super Bowl, Burnard laughed: “Absolutely. We say that every year — but this is the year. This is Allen’s year.”

Nate Burnard’s determination, discipline, and humility shined at Power Slap 15. From surviving sudden death to silencing the gatekeeper talk, Burnard reminded fans that experience and heart still matter most inside the Power Slap cage.
