Puerto Rican-born pro wrestler John Yurnet is about to bring years of in-ring pain tolerance, world-traveled grit, and personal transformation to the Power Slap stage. Known for his work in promotions like WWE and Lucha Libre AAA, Yurnet will face off against Marco Martinez in a prelim bout at Power Slap 13, marking his official entry into open-hand warfare.
“I’ve been getting beat up since I was 14 years old,” Yurnet said. “I was designed to take punishment—and now I get to prove it.”
From Puerto Rico to Power Slap
Yurnet began wrestling at 15 and has since lived and competed in Chicago, Japan, Mexico City, and across the globe. With a long resume that includes stints in WWE and AAA Lucha Libre (part of the TKO/WWE group), he’s seen every kind of combat scenario—except slap fighting.
But that’s about to change.
“This is just another chapter in my story. One that I’m writing with my own hands—literally.”
Pro Wrestler, Real Pain
Despite the scripted nature of wrestling, Yurnet reminds fans that the pain is very real.
“My face is scarred from wrestling matches and bar fights. People underestimate what we endure, but we’re built to take punishment.”
He’s not making any bold predictions or talking trash. Instead, he’s leaning on experience, grit, and a deep understanding of what it means to fight through pain. He’s trained with karate senseis in Tijuana, he’s fought internationally, and now he’s locked in for June 27.
No Character, No Gimmicks—Just John
Known in the wrestling world as Mecha Wolf, Yurnet isn’t planning to bring the character with him into the slap cage.
“I’m not here to be Mecha Wolf. I’m here to be John Yurnet—the guy chasing a dream, feeding his family, and showing the world what he’s made of.”
Whether fans cheer or boo, he’s prepared to be authentic—something he hopes will inspire others.
Facing Marco Martinez: “Let’s See If You Can Back It Up”
Yurnet has studied his opponent. He respects Marco’s confidence but believes his own years of experience—especially performing under pressure—will give him an edge.
“I’m 12 years older, and I’ve been using my hands for years—construction, karate, boxing, wrestling. My fingers are broken in five different ways, not because I like caressing people.”
If Marco Martinez is watching, Yurnet has a simple message:
“Much respect. Keep doing your thing. I’ll see you June 27. Let’s see if all that talking can be backed up by your hand.”
Will Mecha Wolf Make a Surprise Appearance?
While John says he’s stepping in as himself, the beast might still emerge.
“There are pieces of Mecha Wolf that are in me. Maybe they come out without the makeup. I’m a warrior in a garden—I stay calm, but once I’m out there… you never know.”
