Las Vegas, NV — Jackie “The Hybrid” Cataline is set to return to the Power Slap stage on October 3rd at Power Slap 15, where she will finally face off against longtime rival Abby Montes. This matchup has been brewing for years, with multiple MMA bouts between the two scheduled and canceled — and Cataline sees this as unfinished business.
A Rivalry Years in the Making
Cataline has been chasing this fight since 2022. “We had three bouts scheduled in MMA, and she pulled out of all of them — injuries, visa issues, something always came up,” Jackie explained. “I chalked it up to her not wanting to fight me. So now, I’m glad this is finally happening in Power Slap.”
While she respects Montes’ knockout power, Jackie doesn’t see her as untested. “She hasn’t been hit as hard as I can hit. Sheena didn’t knock me out, and she’s got power. So we’ll see if Abby can take mine.”
Adjusting to the Evolution of the Sport
Power Slap has evolved quickly, with athletes experimenting with different striking techniques. Cataline has been adapting along with the sport. She experimented with new methods in her last match against Sheena but plans to return to her signature swing on the three-count.
“I feel like I get more momentum and more power that way,” she said. “It’s a new sport. Everyone’s still figuring out what works. You’ve got to be open to learning, but at the end of the day, I’m sticking with what gives me the most knockout power.”
The Right Weight, the Right Mindset
Cataline currently walks around at 140 lbs, which makes weight management a key factor. She explained her strategy: “For Power Slap, I’ll stay at 135. Cutting down to 125 for MMA is possible, but slapping while dehydrated isn’t smart. I’m not going to cut 15 pounds just to get slapped in the face.”
Focus on the Knockout
Cataline is direct about her goal: another viral finish. “I’m trying to get another Sheena-type knockout. That’s how I stamp my name in Power Slap.” Despite admitting she doesn’t game plan heavily for slap matches, her focus is sharp. “I’ll go out there, do what I know, and let the results speak.”
A Busy Schedule and Extra Experience
Despite Power Slap 15 looming, Cataline continues to compete elsewhere. Just weeks before the showdown, she entered her first Combat Jiu-Jitsu match, blending her grappling skills with slapping on the ground. “It’s going to be interesting — slapping and jiu-jitsu together. I can already slap, so now it’s about applying it when I get the takedown.”
Message for Abby Montes
Jackie’s challenge is crystal clear:
“Show up on October 3rd. Don’t back out of this one.”
Power Slap 15 is shaping up to deliver one of the most heated women’s matchups to date. With unfinished business, evolving technique, and knockout power on both sides, Jackie Cataline vs. Abby Montes could be a defining fight in the women’s division.
