Brice Jones is headed to Saudi Arabia for Power Slap 17, and the undefeated heavyweight isn’t holding back his confidence heading into his international debut against Ryan Kenny. With a spotless 3-0 record, Jones says it’s about time fans see him back on the big stage — and this time, he’s looking to make a statement that can’t be ignored.
“It’s a dream to compete overseas”
Jones says the opportunity to fight in Saudi Arabia feels like a milestone moment.
“I’m definitely excited,” Jones told Slap News. “I wanted to go over there the first time. To be able to travel overseas and compete — that’s like a dream for a fighter. It’s just another check on the bucket list.”
The event marks Jones’ first fight abroad, and after sitting out for nearly a year, he’s determined to prove he’s still one of the most dangerous strikers in the game.
“I don’t want to win that way”
Reflecting on his last outing, Jones admits that his previous win didn’t sit right with him.
“It was tough mentally,” he said. “You want to win clean. You don’t want an opponent that’s just looking for an easy way out. This is my opportunity to really show what I can do and earn my spot in the rankings.”
Jones says he’s tired of fighters dodging his name, adding bluntly:
“Some of these guys are pussies that don’t want to call me out because they know that’s an L for them.”
Sizing up Ryan Kenny
Kenny’s debut against Johnny Magna ended in a draw, and Jones sees some good — but also exploitable — traits in his opponent.
“He stands there like a man and takes it,” Jones said. “But honestly, the way he braces up, you’re just asking to get knocked out. He’s got good technique, but it’s not going to be enough.”
“A man’s match”
Both Jones and Kenny are older, more experienced competitors — what Jones calls “dad strength territory.”
“Either it’s going to be over quick, or it’s going to be a war,” he said. “He’s not looking for an easy way out, and neither am I. We’re both going to stand there and take it.”
“Expect some entertainment”
Known for his intensity, Jones hinted that fans might see a bit of his pro-wrestling side come out on stage this time.
“I’ve got some things planned,” he teased. “You’re definitely going to see more entertainment out of me. Maybe I can pull a bit of that out of him too.”
With three fights already under his belt, Jones believes his experience will make all the difference.
“I’ve had time to really hone my technique,” he said. “He’s got a solid game, but there are holes. Maybe after the match, I’ll give him a couple of pointers.”
“I’m coming to knock your head off”
For fans who haven’t seen him compete before, Jones’ message is simple.
“Expect violence,” he said. “I’m not there to slap and shake hands. We can do that in the back. On stage, I’m trying to knock your head off your shoulders.”
And to Ryan Kenny, Jones had one final warning:
“Ryan, I’m gonna drop the hammer on you. That’s the bottom line. When you see me call for it, that’s the last thing you’ll see until you wake up backstage.”
Brice Jones puts his undefeated 3-0 record on the line when he faces Ryan Kenny at Power Slap 17 in Saudi Arabia — and if his words are any indication, he’s not flying halfway across the world to play it safe.
