Ready for Battle in Abu Dhabi

Power Slap veteran Andrew Fields is ready to bring war to Abu Dhabi as he faces undefeated Canadian striker Vince Tracey at Power Slap 16. The bout, originally scheduled for 155 pounds, has now been moved up to 170, but for Fields, the weight class doesn’t matter — he just wants to compete.

“Whether it’s 155 or 170, whatever the weight needs to be, I’m ready,” said Fields. “I want that belt, and to get there, I need big fights like this one. I wasn’t going to let another matchup fall through. No way I’m letting two fights go by the wayside.”

Fields was originally booked to fight in Louisiana earlier this year before that matchup fell through. When Tracey’s health forced a change in weight, Fields didn’t hesitate to keep the fight alive. “They asked if I’d take it at 170 and I said, of course. I’m not losing another one. Let’s go.”

Respect Between Rivals

Despite the short-notice change, Fields expressed genuine respect for his Canadian opponent. “Vince did the right thing. He told me weeks out that he couldn’t make the cut. He didn’t wait until weigh-ins to surprise anybody,” he explained. “Things happen — life happens — and I give him credit for being up front about it.”

While there’s mutual respect, Fields knows once the lights hit, all that fades. “He’s 3-0, but I’ve been in there with killers,” he said. “Chris Debo, Juel Scott, Anthony Blackburn — if Blackburn couldn’t put me down, I don’t know if anyone can. Every dog has his day, but we’ll see if he’s got the bite to go with his bark.”

Experience, Confidence, and Redemption

This fight marks Fields’ second time competing in front of a live audience, and it’s personal. “It’s redemption for me,” he admitted. “The first time was against Juel Scott, and I got disqualified. That was years ago. This is my chance to erase that and show the world who I am.”

After several years in the sport, Fields feels reinvigorated and mentally sharper than ever. “For a long time, I had a lot going on with my late wife Aubrey,” he said. “Every fight, there was something else weighing on my mind. Now, I’m focused. I can be in the moment again. I’m fighting with purpose.”

Fighting Philosophy: Entertain the Crowd

Known for his grit and toughness, Fields wants a battle — not a quick finish. “I don’t want a one-slap knockout,” he said. “That’s no fun. I want him to eat one, give me one back, and then I’ll knock him out in the second. Let’s give the people a show.”

He credits his experience for that mindset. “I know the judges see everything — the reactions, the winces. I just go in, take it, no reaction, and swing back. That’s the key. Stand there and go all in.”

Message to Vince Tracey

When asked what he’d say directly to his opponent, Fields kept it short and respectful.
“Nothing I haven’t already said,” he smiled. “Let’s go put on a damn war. I’ve got a lot of respect for Vince. I remember when he was a fan, just like I was once. It’s cool seeing someone live their dream. So let’s bang it out, raise both our stocks, and make it a fight people remember.”
