Getting the Win

Abby Montes finally achieved redemption, defeating Jackie Cataline at Power Slap 15 in decisive fashion. “I’m super happy,” Abby said post-fight. “It’s no surprise for me — I work every day for this, and I live this in my mind. So, I’m happy for this moment.”

After months of heated exchanges, Montes took satisfaction in silencing her rival. “Of course it makes me happy,” she smiled. “I tried for the knockout — it was almost there. But it’s okay. I always try to stay a good girl, friendly, but when people talk too much, it’s not professional. I don’t like that.”

Assessing Jackie’s Power

While many expected Cataline’s strength to be a major factor, Montes said she was unfazed. “I imagined she would be stronger,” she admitted. “But the punches didn’t surprise me. It was nothing.”

When asked if she’d ever face Jackie again, this time in MMA, Montes didn’t hesitate. “Yeah, of course. Why not?” she said confidently. “Now I know I have the power for the knockout, and I feel comfortable with this. So I’m ready for whatever.”

Looking Ahead

Now 2–0 in Power Slap, Montes is open to all opportunities. “Good question,” she laughed. “I’m ready for everything. This year was crazy — my debut in Power Slap, debut in Muay Thai. Maybe next is MMA. I’m not closing any doors.”

She’s also weighing her options on fighting weight. “I fought at 145 with no weight cut. I feel strong there. For MMA, I might try 135, but for Power Slap, I don’t like cutting weight.”

Representing Mexico on the World Stage

As one of the first Mexican women to compete in Power Slap, Montes takes pride in representing her country. “I think it’s opening more eyes,” she said. “Because I am the first Mexican woman in Power Slap, and I have many friends in the UFC watching right now. Maybe more Mexicans will come to Power Slap soon.”

With her second straight win and growing confidence in her knockout power, Abby Montes is quickly establishing herself as a top contender — and a proud trailblazer for Mexico in Power Slap.
