Wes Mena is heading back to the international stage to take on Devin Jenkins in a heavyweight clash at Power Slap XI in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. After an impressive debut in Abu Dhabi, Wes is locked in, focused, and ready to showcase why he’s a top contender in the heavyweight division.
The Evolution of Wes Mena
Wes Mena’s growth as a competitor has been undeniable. Since his last match, he’s been refining his technique and focusing on building strength. His collaboration with the Crazy Hawaiian, one of the sport’s biggest names, has been instrumental in his evolution.
“Honestly, I have to give credit to the Crazy Hawaiian. We talked almost every day, and he fine-tuned my technique. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have had that knockout in my last match. This time, I’ve been working on strength—hitting the bench, adding muscle, and just sharpening my skills. I feel dangerous, Corey. I’m ready.”
Wes revealed that he’s put on nearly 10 pounds since his last fight and is feeling stronger than ever, benching 315 pounds for reps in training. He believes he’s in the best shape of his life, both physically and mentally.
The Fight Against Devin Jenkins
When it comes to his opponent, Wes is solely focused on himself. While he acknowledges Devin Jenkins as a capable striker, he’s confident that his preparation and experience will shine through.
“I’m not worried about him, Corey. I’m focused on the man in the mirror. My defense is sharper, my technique is on point, and I’ve worked hard to make sure there’s no flinch in my game. Devin better hope I don’t win the coin toss because I’m going for the first-round knockout.”
Despite being the favorite going into this match, Wes isn’t taking anything for granted.
“You never look past your opponent. I was the underdog in my last fight, and I made a statement. Now I’m here to do it again. But I’ll be honest, I feel like Devin doesn’t have the chin to stand up to me. He’s going to sleep.”
A New Era for Heavyweights
With a division brimming with talent, Wes believes the heavyweight roster is stronger than ever. He sees himself as a gatekeeper for anyone looking to break into the top 10.
“The heavyweight rankings are stacked right now—James, Pono, Nate, all these guys are making waves. I love it because it pushes all of us to be better. But I feel like if you want to climb into the top 10, you’ve got to go through me first.”
The Journey to Saudi Arabia
Having already competed in Abu Dhabi, Wes is no stranger to international competition. He’s looking forward to returning to the Middle East and performing on a global stage once again.
“The rush of being on that stage is indescribable, Corey. I can’t wait to step on that plane, get the flight over with, and feel that adrenaline again. It’s a business trip for me, and I’m locked in.”
This time, Wes will also have the Crazy Hawaiian and Isaiah at his side as teammates, which he believes will bring even more synergy to his performance.
“It’s a delight to have those guys on the same team. The connection we have is amazing. They’ve helped me a lot, and I can’t wait to represent with them in Saudi Arabia.”
Message to Devin Jenkins
Wes didn’t hold back when asked if he had a message for his opponent.
“Devin, bring your A-game. I want fireworks. I want violence. Bring it, because I’m coming with it, and you better be ready. You’re about to go to sleep, bro.”
Power Slap XI takes place on January 30th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Don’t miss Wes Mena’s heavyweight showdown against Devin Jenkins as he looks to climb the ranks and prove why he’s a force to be reckoned with in the sport.
