Troels Nielsen’s time has finally come. After teasing fans with his appearance in Abu Dhabi, Nielsen is set to make his Power Slap debut at Power Slap XI in Saudi Arabia. With a powerful backstory and a focus on precision, Nielsen is ready to show the world what he’s capable of.
The Long Wait is Over
Nielsen couldn’t be more thrilled to finally compete on the Power Slap stage.
“I’m so excited, and I hope I get lucky this time,” Charles said. “It’s a long trip to make for nothing, so I’m crossing my fingers for everything to go smoothly.”
Having already traveled extensively, including hunting trips in Africa, Troels is no stranger to international flights. Still, his focus is on his opponent, Zakir.
“I don’t know much about him, other than he can lift half a horse or something. But size doesn’t matter if you can’t slap right.”
Preparing for the Stage
Troels has been training with Denmark’s strongest man, refining his strength and flexibility ahead of this matchup.
“I’ve trained with him six times so far, and I’m continuing to work with him after Saudi Arabia. I’ve also been studying Power Slap matches—every weight class, every technique—because I want to make sure my slap is perfect on the first try.”
At 6’2” and 245 pounds, Troels isn’t worried about cutting weight for the event. However, he’s still trying to size up his opponent.
“I can’t figure out how big Zakir is. I’ve checked his Instagram, but I’m just going to wing it.”
A Deeper Motivation
For Troels, Power Slap is more than just a sport—it’s deeply personal.
“I promised my father before he died that I would take care of my family. On the same day I buried him, I became a father myself. I went straight from the church to the hospital to meet my daughter. That’s what motivates me: my kids and my family. I want to show them that I can be more than I thought possible.”
This emotional drive fuels Troels’ dedication to the sport and his commitment to making his mark on the Power Slap stage.
Navigating Saudi Arabia
Troels isn’t concerned about adapting to the culture or rules in Saudi Arabia.
“I just got the rules for the country, and they’re similar to Abu Dhabi. As long as you’re humble, there’s no problem. And I’m a humble guy.”
What does concern him, however, is performing flawlessly on stage.
“The only thing I’m worried about is making sure I do everything right on stage so I don’t get disqualified. That’s my biggest focus.”
Support from the Power Slap Community
Troels is looking forward to reuniting with familiar faces like Danie Van Heerden, Darren Godfrey, and The Chief in Saudi Arabia.
“It’s a big comfort knowing I’ll see them again. They’re great guys and very supportive.”
He’s also keeping an eye on the match between The Chief and Brandon Rhodes, though he’s keeping his prediction close to the chest.
“Let’s just say I know where I’d put my money.”
A Message for Zakir
Troels had a clear and simple warning for his opponent:
“Don’t miss, because I don’t miss. And I hit like a brick. You don’t get two chances.”
