Power Slap XI in Saudi Arabia promises explosive matchups, and Darren Godfrey, riding high at 3-0, is ready to put his undefeated record on the line against Merlis Moussakis. With his eyes set on a future title shot, Darren is laser-focused on delivering another dominant performance.
A Dream Come True
For Darren, competing in Saudi Arabia is more than just another fight—it’s the realization of a lifelong dream.
“Bro, I’m buzzing. Saudi Arabia has always been a dream of mine. Being on this card is a big deal, and I want to thank Power Slap for the opportunity,” Darren said.
With his undefeated record and recent viral knockout, Darren knows every match matters as he climbs closer to a title shot.
“They keep putting men in front of me, and I keep knocking them out. They’ve got to give me that shot soon. I’m chasing the big fights now—guys like Butcher and Asaya. Those are the fights I want.”
Growing the Sport in the UK
Darren has been a key figure in growing Power Slap’s presence in the UK, and his success has brought newfound attention to the sport.
“I’m getting eyes on me now. People in the UK are messaging me, saying they’re my fans and want to follow my journey. I know I’ve brought a lot of eyes to Power Slap from the UK, but I still want to light it up even more. I want to be the number one face of Power Slap for the UK.”
Darren’s efforts to promote the sport include appearances on major platforms like the BBC, where he’s been spreading the word about slap fighting.
“I’m making waves here, and if being the face of Power Slap in the UK is the plan they have for me, I’m running with it.”
Relentless Training
When it comes to preparation, Darren’s work ethic is unmatched.
“Man, I’m relentless. I don’t take days off. Even when I don’t have a fight lined up, I train like a lunatic. Every fight is the biggest fight of my life, and I leave no stone unturned,” he explained.
For Darren, the mental side of the sport is just as crucial as the physical.
“It’s a lot of mentality for me. I struggle with a few things mentally, but without struggle, you can’t get anywhere. I thrive on the hype and the craziness—it’s what drives me.”
Facing Merlis Moussakis
While Darren hasn’t studied Merlis extensively, he’s confident in his ability to handle whatever comes his way.
“I had a quick look at his fights—nothing impressive. If you don’t knock me out, you’ve got problems. Whether I win the coin toss or not, I’m running through him.”
Darren is determined to make a statement, not just to Merlis but to the entire Power Slap roster.
“I’ve been around since the trials, and now I’m on these big international cards. I’m ready to show everyone why I belong here.”
Bringing His Wife Into Power Slap
Darren hinted at the possibility of his wife joining the Power Slap ranks in the future.
“People think I’m a lunatic—wait until you meet my wife. She’s a badass. If Power Slap wants to bring her in, she’d be ready to take on anyone in any division.”
While she’s still undecided on a nickname, Darren joked about calling her “Pretty Violent” or “The Spider Queen.”
