After months of silence, Garrett Blakesslee — Power Slap’s No. 7 light heavyweight contender — is finally back in front of Slap News cameras. From division chaos to overseas travel nightmares, jail push-up routines, and his next fight ambitions, Blakesslee unloaded a full update on where he’s been and what comes next.
Light heavyweight division chaos: “Some of these calls are crazy”
Blakesslee hasn’t been in the cage recently, but he’s been watching closely. And according to him, things in the division are… interesting.
“It’s a little crazy,” he admitted. “Some of the calls are wild. That flinching with Alan — absolutely astonishing he didn’t get called for 90% of the stuff he did.”
Still, he gave credit where it was due.
“Logan’s making a giant statement. Knocked Russell Río the f*** out. That was dope to watch.”
Opponents he wants: Revere, Terp — and the one that got away
Before injuries and disqualifications derailed his last run, Blakesslee had a short list of names he always expected to face.
“I was waiting for the Terp fight forever,” he said. “Before I even fought TJ, I was supposed to fight Russell. That was set in stone, but he pulled out right before the fight.”
Now, with a 2–2 record and coming off back-to-back losses, he knows the next matchup is critical.
“Probably Terp or Revere. I’ve been waiting for that.”
And when asked whether Russell Revere would be a “get-right” fight:
“Yeah, 100%,” he said without hesitation. “I welcome anything.”
Hawaii 2026? Heavyweight shifts? Overseas cards?
With talks of a Hawaii event floating around, Blakesslee couldn’t help but laugh.
“I would love to decimate that. Keep it in the States.”
As for the Middle East?
He’s on the fence.
“I’d consider it… but last time was a fiasco. I had a few double Jacks and Coke in Germany, and they wouldn’t let me on the plane because I smelled like alcohol. Sat in an airport hungover for 10 hours after a 10-hour flight. I was in economy at 6’2. I don’t know if I want that again.”
Weight and gym update: “I’m always around 207”
Blakesslee says he stays consistent.
“I sit right around 207. Max I get is 210–212.”
Recently, fans noticed him back in the gym — which sparked interest about his return.
A month in county jail: clogged pores, no protein… and insane push-up gains
Blakesslee was honest about disappearing for a bit.
“I spent 30 days in county. The food was horrible. Two spoonfuls of meat per meal and everything else was straight carbs. My pores were clogged. I felt like shit.”
But he made the most of it.
He turned to the old-school deck of cards workout — and it worked.
“My max pushups before was like 40 in one go. In one month, I got it to 75–80.”
Once he got out, the sauna was heaven.
“As soon as I hit the sauna again, I felt like a million bucks.”
Teaching Power Slap… in jail
The wildest part? Everyone in there loved that he was a Power Slap athlete.
“I was teaching everybody. Showed them what to do, signed a few papers, traced my hand for some guys. Told them the strategies, the basics. Everybody enjoyed it.”
He even joked that two of those guys could hang with the pros:
“There’s two people in there that would give everybody in my division a run for their money.”
Holiday season and big life news
With Thanksgiving and Christmas approaching, Blakesslee has more than fighting on his mind.
“I’ve got a son being born in January — my first son. That’ll be awesome. I’m happy I’m out for that.”
Garrett Blakesslee is refreshed, motivated, and ready for a crucial comeback fight.
Whether it’s Revere, Terp, or another top-10 striker, he’s made one thing clear: he’s not done, and he plans to make noise in 2025.
Stay tuned — the light heavyweight division just got a lot more interesting.
