Ro Montaña returns to Power Slap for a quick turnaround — and he’s coming with fire.
After a gutsy debut at Power Slap 13 where he survived and defeated super heavyweight Zak Lansing while giving up over 80 pounds, Ro Montaña is back for Power Slap 14 in New Orleans — this time in his natural heavyweight division. He’ll be taking on the 0-3 Kody Hrastink, and he’s not short on confidence.
“I know I can take a hit. I got a strong hand. I’m technically above him now. The guy’s 0-3 — it’s really nothing.”
Returning to His True Weight Class
Montaña says fans should expect a better performance now that he’s not giving up massive weight.
“Going into the regular heavyweight division, I’ll have more momentum and power. Zak was tough, but he just wouldn’t budge. I’m excited to show how powerful I really am.”
He also hinted at needing to cut 25 pounds to make his preferred 260-pound range.
“I don’t want to be right at 265. I want to come in strong, quick, and give people a show.”
From the Ring to the Stage
Ro credits his pro wrestling background with preparing him mentally and physically for the slap fighting world.
“People have their opinions on wrestling, but I was getting slammed, hit with chairs, chopped, punched. That all prepped me. And my mom slapped me when I was a bad kid — so I’ve been training for this my whole life!”
His showmanship and crowd awareness were on full display at Power Slap 13 — dancing, smiling, and soaking in the moment.
What He Thinks About Cody Erasmus
Ro hasn’t seen much of Kody’s tape — and that tells him everything he needs to know.
“I haven’t seen anything. So he’s probably not doing a good job. If you’re trying to talk your talk, make sure I see it. He can mention me all he wants. I’ll shut it down.”
While Cody has more Power Slap experience, Ro isn’t impressed.
“He might have experience, but he doesn’t have Zak’s power. I can take his slap — that’s for sure.”
Prediction: Knockout Incoming
Don’t expect this one to go the distance. Ro’s prediction? Pain.
“First or second round knockout. First hit just fires me up. The second — that’s when I go 110%.”
The Office Believes in Ro
Being brought back just three weeks later is a big deal, and Ro knows it.
“It’s a great feeling. They see something in me — and hopefully they see it in my brother too. I think I’m marketable, I’m entertaining, and I’ve got the power. I just need to put in the work and go far with it.”
A Mullet vs. Mullet Showdown?
If Ro ever had to face his brother in Power Slap…
“They better pay us a lot of money! We’d have to do a mullet vs. mullet five-round match. He’s probably a little stronger than me… but we’ll see!”
Final Words
“Cody’s just another fish. I’m gonna squash him. Tune in — it’s gonna be fun and games… and knockouts.”
