From steel chairs and flaming tables to open-palm knockouts—Dontae Smiley is stepping into Power Slap with over a decade of professional wrestling experience, a deep love for violence, and a mission to put Dallas on the slap fighting map.

“I’ve slapped people for less,” Smiley joked. “Now I get to do it legally—and get paid for it.”

Smiley has been wrestling since 2014, competing across the U.S. indie scene, working with AEW, NWA, and international promotions through the OIWA. But Power Slap offers something new—and very real.

From Gimmicks to Gut Checks

Unlike the scripted world of pro wrestling, Smiley knows Power Slap offers no second takes, no worked punches—just pure reality.

“There ain’t no gimmicks here. This is real fighting. It’s as raw as it gets—but they still want you to bring your full self. And I’m all in.”

Known for his wild energy, athleticism, and natural charisma, Smiley sees slap fighting as the perfect collision of combat and character.

“It’s me, just turned up 10x. What you saw at the Apex—that’s the same me in the ring, in the gym, and everywhere else.”

Why Power Slap? “I’ve Always Had a Beacon for Violence”

While others might flinch at the thought of a full-force open palm slap, Smiley embraces it.

“I grew up loving hardcore matches. Tables, ladders, kendo sticks—none of that feels good. But I loved it. This is just the next level.”

He sees Power Slap as a legitimate athletic outlet, one that lets him lean into who he is without risking trouble off the stage. For someone who speaks at schools and anti-bullying rallies, he believes his journey shows that violent energy can be channeled into something productive and positive.

Hardest Hit Ever? Hint: It’s Not a Slap… Yet

Smiley’s taken his fair share of bumps. He recalls being speared off an apron through a table onto the concrete as the hardest hit he’s ever taken—but says kendo sticks are worse than anything.

“That thing welts, it cuts, it stings—worse than when your momma made you get a switch off the tree.”

He laughs, but admits once he takes his first real slap, he may need to revise that ranking.

Slap Fandom Runs Deep—And So Does Texas Pride

Long before the invite to Power Slap, Smiley was already a fan.

“I followed Brandon before I ever got this opportunity. Then Anthony, Wolverine, Robert—all the guys. I’ve been watching.”

And while Power Slap hasn’t yet touched down in Texas, Smiley is ready to change that.

“Texas welcomes violence. UFC’s been there. Power Slap’s legal. It’s only a matter of time—and I’ll be the face when it happens.”
