Ke’ali’i “The Chief” Kanekoa is locked in and ready for war.
On July 18, Power Slap leaves Nevada for the first time and lands in New Orleans—and The Chief is returning to settle unfinished business with Darren “The Tarantula” Godfrey.
Their first encounter at Power Slap 9 ended in controversy. Now, after back-to-back wins at Power Slap 11 and 12, Kanekoa is ready to make a statement.
“We all saw what happened last time,” he says. “If you keep replaying it, the flinch is obvious. This time, it’s on home soil. This time, I’m putting Darren down.”
No More Mr. Nice Guy
The first match might have brought out a more respectful side of Kanekoa—but that’s gone now. The Chief is done playing nice.
“This is a kill-or-be-killed situation. That last match woke something up in me. No more soft-hearted shit. I’m here to knock people out and get paid.”
The Road Back: “I’m Taking Souls”
Since their first fight, both men have added wins to their resume. But Kanekoa has looked like a force of nature, notching highlight-reel finishes and reminding fans why he’s one of Power Slap’s most dangerous strikers.
“I keep finding that chin. I keep finding that sweet spot,” he says. “This is what I do. I’m not just in the show—I am the show.”
Title Intentions: Is The Chief Next for the Belt?
The same night Kanekoa rematches Darren, the light heavyweight title is on the line as Isaiah Quinones battles Brandon Bordeaux.
Kanekoa’s eyes are on both.
“This match puts me right in line for the title,” he says. “It doesn’t matter who it is—Ladyboy, Bitcher, whoever. I’ll take them all out.”
Prediction: Round 1, Right On One
When asked to break down how the rematch plays out, Kanekoa doesn’t hesitate.
“You already know. First round, right on one. I’ll win the coin toss—because the universe favors me—and I’ll end it right there.”
He’s confident, focused, and carrying serious momentum.
Why Fans Should Tune In
If you’ve never seen The Chief slap before, he says this is the time.
“People don’t just want to see a match—they want to see a knockout. I want fans around the world to feel it through the screen. That’s what I bring.”
Message to Darren “The Tarantula” Godfrey
Kanekoa had a direct message for his opponent heading into Power Slap 14:
“Darren, just don’t flinch. That first one was a fluke. This time, I’m putting you down. That streak ends here.”
Power Slap 14 goes down live on Rumble on Thursday, July 18, from New Orleans. Tune in to see if The Chief gets his revenge—and punches his ticket to a title shot.
