Destiny McCubbin isn’t just making her debut at Power Slap 13—she’s on a mission to make history.
With a deep background in combat sports and a fiery personality that commands the camera, McCubbin is bringing real fight energy to slap fighting. On June 27 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, she takes on Zoe Sloan in a matchup she believes will be one of the most entertaining—and violent—of the night.
“Thirteen Is My Number”
Some might call it coincidence. Destiny calls it fate.
“Thirteen is my number. I have it tattooed on me,” she told Slap News. “I think the stars are aligning.”
While Zoe brings a background in dance and WWE-style performance, Destiny is rooted in combat: 10 professional MMA fights, six boxing matches, and countless rounds of hard training at Syndicate MMA.
From Skeptic to Slap Believer
At first, Destiny wasn’t sold on slap fighting.
“It was all silly to me,” she admitted. “But once I went to the camp, it opened my eyes. It’s a real sport—and it’s hard.”
Her MMA and boxing experience have built her chin, neck strength, and toughness. In fact, she says she had the strongest neck out of any female at the slap camp—even stronger than the heavyweights.
“I’ve been punched hard. I’ve trained to take damage. That gives me a huge edge.”
Sizing Up Zoe Sloan
While Destiny missed the second camp, she’s heard plenty about her opponent.
“She’s tall, lanky, got great technique. Robert Trujillo said that—and that means a lot.”
But technique isn’t everything. Destiny believes her power is the X-factor.
“I’ve heard she doesn’t hit as hard as me. And I’ve had time to perfect my slap. I really believe I’m going to get a knockout.”
Cutting Weight, Not Corners
As of two weeks out, Destiny was sitting at 134 lbs—dialed in to make the 125-lb weight class.
“I walk around at 135, but I’ve cut weight before. I’m right on track. My goal is to be 130 by the Tuesday before fight night.”
For her, 125 lbs is the right weight class for women in Power Slap.
“Yes, knockouts are harder at this weight. But with more time, more camps, more evolution—you’ll start seeing them. And I’m going to be the first.”
Expect Fireworks
Both Destiny and Zoe have experience in front of the camera, and Destiny believes that’s going to make their bout must-watch.
“She’s a good performer, but when I’m in competition mode—I get nasty. I get ghetto with it. I think this fight is going to be super exciting.”
And while she respects Zoe, Destiny doesn’t mince words:
“Come ready, girl. You’re gonna taste what getting smacked in the jaw really feels like. I can beat you in a street fight, an MMA fight, and I’m going to beat you in a slap fight. The only thing you could beat me at is a dance battle.”
A Mental Game, Too
For Destiny, the match doesn’t start with the first slap—it starts at the weigh-ins.
“That’s when it’s on for me. I feed off energy. If I’m talking my shit, I’m comfortable. If I go quiet? That’s when you know I’m locked in.”
All Eyes on the Women’s Division
Destiny also weighed in on the state of the women’s division in Power Slap.
She backs Mikael Michelle Brown to win her bout against Ellie Dempster but wonders what the future holds for the championship picture.
“If Mikey wins, she’s got to get that title shot. But what happens if she doesn’t? Are we going to wait forever for Paige? I think Mikael vs. Chelsea Dodson should’ve been the title eliminator.”
Still, Destiny is staying focused on her own debut.
“All bullshit aside, it’s nothing but respect to my opponent. We’ll both do what we have to do. I’m sure we’ll be friends afterward—but until then, it’s war.”
